BYD Sealion 6 mới đây hoàn thành quãng đường từ Hà Nội tới Phan Thiết trong một chương trình dành riêng cho các tay lái là những khách mời nhiều kinh nghiệm trong giới truyền thông về ôtô tại Việt Nam. Theo đó, chiếc xe chạy được xa nhất ghi nhận kết quả 1.795,1 km, được đo bằng cách chạy cho tới khi xe cạn pin và xăng, không thể tiếp tục di chuyển. Sealion 6 có bình xăng dung tích 60 lít.

Cụ thể, ba chiếc Sealion 6 được đổ đầy xăng, sạc đầy điện tại Hà Nội, di chuyển theo cung đường dọc đất nước tới điểm cuối tại Mũi Né (Phan Thiết, Bình Thuận), gồm đầy đủ các loại địa hình đường quốc lộ, cao tốc, đường bằng phẳng, mấp mô, đá sỏi nhẹ và đèo dốc.
Khi kết thúc tại điểm cuối đồi cát Bàu Trắng, các xe đều gần 1.700 km và vẫn còn xăng, điện. Các xe tiếp tục chạy nhiều vòng xung quanh khu vực này cho tới khi xe dừng hẳn, tức hết sạch xăng trong bình, pin chỉ còn mức 3% (xe sẽ không cho di chuyển tiếp). Kết quả quãng đường của ba xe lần lượt là 1.723 km, 1.770 km và 1.795 km.
Kết quả này phản ánh chính xác phong cách chạy của từng xe để tạo ra các thói quen đa dạng của người dùng. Với xe 1.723 km, người lái bật điều hòa lạnh sâu, mức gió cao, sử dụng các thiết bị điện thoải mái, ví dụ nghe nhạc liên tục ở âm lượng cao cả hành trình và chân ga không quá chặt chẽ. Trong khi đó hai xe còn lại sẽ đặt mức điều hòa và gió vừa đủ làm mát, hạn chế nghe nhạc ở âm lượng lớn, cẩn thận chân ga với lực đạp nhẹ và đều.
Khi bắt đầu xuất phát ở Hà Nội, vì pin gần 100%, các xe sẽ bắt đầu ở chế độ chạy thuần điện (EV). Ở chế độ này, các xe đều đạt trên 130 km. Như vậy, nếu một ngày ai đó chỉ di chuyển đi làm xung quanh thành phố, hoặc ra ngoại thành thì gần như không cần đổ xăng suốt nhiều ngày, nếu buổi tối có thể cắm sạc đầy pin trở lại.
Sau khi pin về dưới 25%, xe sẽ không cho chạy thuần điện mà chuyển sang HEV. Lúc này tùy từng xe lại lựa chọn một cách thức chạy khác nhau để hướng tới việc tiết kiệm nhiên liệu.
Ví dụ, một xe chọn cách đặt SoC mục tiêu của pin lên 70%, tức một mức rất cao, cứ qua mức này xe sẽ chạy thuần điện, trong khi tụt xuống 69% sẽ chạy hybrid. Theo cách đặt này, máy xăng sẽ lập tức nổ liên tục để nạp điện cho pin, rất nhanh tới mức trên 70% thì dừng. Khi đó, tài xế sẽ chuyển sang chạy chế độ thuần điện. Trong khi đó, một xe khác chọn cách vẫn để mức SoC mục tiêu 25% và hoàn toàn chạy theo chế độ HEV mà xe lựa chọn.
Dù chọn cách nào, chân ga phải luôn đảm bảo nhẹ nhàng để mức công suất vận hành của môtơ ở vào khoảng dưới 10 kW sẽ đảm bảo mức tiêu thụ năng lượng ít nhất, tốc độ tối ưu ở ngưỡng 45-50 km/h. Khi lên dốc để chế độ EV và lúc xuống dốc chuyển sang HEV để tối ưu phanh tái tạo năng lượng và động cơ xăng sạc lại cho pin. Mức tiêu thụ nhiên liệu trung bình đạt được chỉ hơn 3 lít/100 km.
Con số gần 1.800 km mà Sealion 6 đạt được thực tế xảy ra trong một hành trình có chủ đích, vì vậy vận hành thực tế có thể thấp hơn con số này. Mức tiêu thụ mà hãng đưa ra là 1.200 km mỗi lần đổ đầy bình xăng và sạc đầy điện. Theo các chuyên gia, thực tế người dùng hoàn toàn có thể đạt được con số 1.300-1.400 km với cách lái xe thông thường mà không cần chú ý tới những quy tắc khắt khe để đạt tiêu thụ năng lượng tối thiểu.
Với người sử dụng thông thường, con số 1.200 hay 1.800 km đều là khá thừa thãi vì khó lòng có ai chạy một mạch dài như vậy mà không nghỉ để đổ xăng. Tuy vậy, con số này cho thấy khả năng tối ưu công nghệ và lợi thế về mức tiêu thụ và đặc biệt là chi phí cho người sử dụng. Ví dụ trước đây với xe xăng, tài xế chạy từ Hà Nội vào TP HCM phải đổ xăng 3 lần, thì với xe hybrid như Sealion 6 chỉ đổ xăng một lần. Chi phí tiết kiệm cho hai bình xăng vào khoảng 2-2,5 triệu đồng.
BYD Sealion 6 nằm ở phân khúc crossover cỡ C, hiện có hai phiên bản Dynamic giá 799 và 899 triệu đồng. Xe lắp động cơ plug-in hybrid, gồm máy xăng 1.5 (công suất 96 mã lực, mô-men xoắn cực đại 122 Nm) kết hợp với một môtơ điện (công suất 194 mã lực, mô-men xoắn 300 Nm). Tổng công suất kết hợp 214 mã lực. Hệ thống còn có một môtơ nữa làm nhiệm vụ máy phát điện, không dẫn động xe. Bộ pin BYD Blade dung lượng 18,3 kWh. Dẫn động cầu trước.
